Our First Geocache

At tonight's meeting we worked on our Geocaching badge. We made our first find and hid our first cache too. It was a tiny micro cache but still exciting nonetheless! We're going to be doing some research at home to see how many caches are located near our homes, in our city and in our state. The girls cannot wait to discover what other caches might be hidden right under our noses. We're also going to be teaching our Junior sister troop all about our new hobby.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new troop blog! I'm going to be posting updates on our activities as well as interesting Girl Scout related things that I find on the web. I can hardly believe that we only have two more meetings left in our scouting year. All of our troops are busy trying to get their journeys finished so that we can start working on our silver and gold awards. For those of you who aren't familiar, these are the highest awards that a Girl Scout can earn. They take a lot of hard work and dedication and are comparable to the Eagle Scout award used in Boy Scouts.

Can you imagine the difference we will make in our community with all of these girls doing service projects? It reminds me of something called the "butterfly effect". This is the phenomenon whereby a minor change in circumstances can cause a large change in outcome. One girl, working on one seeming insignificant project can become a catalyst for change. With a whole troop of butterflies, who knows what we can do!
